How do I mindfully dispose of my products?

Check out our materials and disposal guide to understand the exact materials we use in our products and how to make disposal choices that help—not harm—the environment. Proper disposal is key to reducing waste and contributing to a circular economy, and it’s not always as straightforward as you may think. We—and the environment—need your help.

What is the right disposable glove to select?

One of the most important things to consider when choosing your disposable glove is the quality of the glove for the application it’s being used for. Selecting gloves manufactured to an AQL standard significantly enhances personal protection for the glove wearer. Learn more about AQL in our article: How to choose disposable gloves for optimal personal protection.

What is the difference between your food packaging brands, Green Choice and Emperor?

Green Choice is a smart, high-performing choice for takeaway food packaging. It is ideal for cafes, eateries, food trucks, restaurants, events, and other food service and hospitality businesses that require food to be packaged for on-the-go.
Emperor, on the other hand, supplies robust solutions for cooking, preparing, storing, and packaging food. It's a brand that understands the fast-paced demands of commercial kitchens and food service professionals.

Composting & Disposal FAQs

Do your Green Choice™ compostable products actually decompose?

How quickly and effectively they decompose depends on the composting environment. In an approved landfill—New Zealand currently has only about eight commercial composting facilities—it’s impossible to guarantee decomposition or composting timelines. If our products are buried near organic matter with appropriate microbial conditions, they may decompose faster. If buried with fossil-fuel-based plastics, decomposition will take much longer.

Even if our products do not convert into compost (a usable fertiliser), they will still break down into organic matter that does not harm the ecosystem—unlike fossil-based plastics.

Our compostable products are plant-based. To illustrate: an apple indoors might take a week to rot, outdoors it might be gone in days, and in a landfill, it will eventually decompose but may not become compost. In a controlled composting facility, however, the apple—and our compostable Green Choice™ products—can become high-quality compost.

Some Green Choice™ products are made from recyclable plastics. Check our materials and disposal guide to learn more and contribute to a circular economy.

Will Green Choice™ products be turned into compost?

That depends on the composting environment. If the local council sends waste to a commercial composting facility, then yes, the product will be converted into compost. However, New Zealand currently has far more landfills than composting facilities. Some products are suitable for home composting (check product pages or contact our team for more information). For full understanding, refer to the Waste Management Institute of New Zealand.
